A Word From Juliette aka Vampire maman

juliette

Back in 2012 I started a blog about parenting middle school and high school kids. Now I am an empty nester. My children are adults now. One child is starting a business, and the other is in graduate school. I gave them wings and they flew. Oh did they fly.

So what will you find here? Well, pretty much everything in my life. I blog, first and foremost about being a mom, no matter how old my kids are or how far away they live. I also blog about the elders in our lives.

So many of us have young adults and ancient adults in our lives. We are the ones who everyone goes to for comfort, advice, help, love, and cat memes. Sometimes it can turn our world around and upside down.

There are also regular features on Vampiremaman.com that you should check out.

  1. Short Story Sunday
  2. Vlad’s Vampire Diary
  3. Taking Care of Your Elders
  4. And a range of book reviews, love letters, advice, and assorted musings.
  5. Posts for the Pandemic

Also check out posts with Nigel the Ghost, my four Vampire brothers, musings, poetry, cats, nature walks, rock concerts, travel, art, and whatever else I think about and write down.

An interesting hybrid of family and societal observations from the perspective of a mother who also happens to be a vampire. That Vampire Maman, aka Juliette, is a highly innovative and insightful writer with a gift for creating a fantasy world within a “real” world context. (From monkeybellhop.com).

I can explain the wonder and awe and feeling of being so complete and one with the universe when I’m in the presence of art. It is time travel for the soul. It is the essence of being. It was something that transports.  It is like a high that no drug can match. It is magic. ~ Juliette

Thank you for stopping by to visit. Let me know what you think and keep checking back. xoxo

My name is Oscar. I am a cat, not a Vampire. I am soft and cuddly and sometimes an idiot (hence the scar on my face). To know me is to love me.

Now, the original description for my blog which is still my philosophy and true to my heart:

Welcome to the world of the Vampire mom. I hope to offer a safe place for information on parenting the modern vampire child – especially your Vampire teens.

With so many vampire books and movies out now our kids are overloaded with conflicts about their own self image. The secrets we keep for our survival are often difficult for the vampire kid of the 21st Century. Sure our kids are the coolest kids around – the only problem is that they can’t let anyone else know about it. And as a parent – what can you do? Follow me and my friends in our quest to do our best to raise successful vampires in a time where “anything goes” when it comes to the public view of vampires.

And it isn’t just our teens – as modern Vampire parents, we find ourselves taking care of ancient elderly Vampires, new Vampires and our assorted family members and friends. And we can’t forget our husbands or wives. It isn’t always easy, but it is always rewarding.

For those of you who are not in the Vampire community, I hope that you visit with an open mind and learn to live life with joy, knowing that I’m  not here to turn you into a vampire or kill you. Like the rest of you I’m  just trying to raise our kids, pay our taxes and do the right thing.

Thank you so much for visiting Vampire Maman – Musings of a Vampire Mom. I hope to see you back soon! Feel free to follow the blog on WordPress and get the latest news, funny stories, poetry, book reviews, musings, cocktails and fun.

  1. Hello Juliette,

  2. Juliette, thanks for the like on my vampire artwork ~ you’ve got a very entertaining blog. It’s cool that you’re not just a Vampire but an artist as well 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing some of your artwork!

      1. I reviewed this book last year and loved it. I reeevicd an email from Rice, asking to link the review from her website. It is well worth the read. Peace, Jamie

  3. I’m glad you clarified that Juliette is a FICTIONAL character. For the longest time, I wasn’t sure if you were a bit… um… off-kilter… if you know what I mean, but I didn’t know how to bring it up. I’m too used to non-fiction blogs, I suppose.

    1. I had to laugh. Sorry for any confusion. Sometimes there is a little bit of a blur between truth and fiction, but why yes, Juliette my fictional alter ego. To tell you the truth nobody wants to hear about ME, but they do want to hear about Juliette aka Vampire Maman and her family of Vampires, Werewolf friends, Zombies, Poetry, Book Reviews and that damned Ghost next door.

    1. Thank you. I’m touched. Also impressed by your list of other bloggers you have listed. Feels nice to be in such good company with my odd little blog. 🙂

      1. You blog is quite special. More people should discover it. It brings an imaginative light into this world. It’s inventive and genuine and celebrates the imagination. Keep doing what you’re doing. j.k.;-)

  4. I nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award! You can check out the rules and grab the award on my blog, but it’s a no-strings-attached-award, so you don’t have to do anything unless you want to.

(And I see now that you’ve already gotten one! You are extra lovely then!)

    Stephanie

  5. Great blog 🙂 I am new to all this and I am greatly enjoying this experience. I did not realize all this existed. I finally found a use for the internet!

  6. Hi Juliette! A google image search brought me to your page. I uploaded an old family photo, one you have here, and am speechless. A few members of my family are researching our family history and I was wondering if you have information on the photo or know someone who does.

    Thanks!!!

    Kimberly

        1. Everette Bowlsby. His father was Clarence Bowlsby. He lived from 1893 to 1973. His wife’s name was Aleta. They had five children.

If you want, I can send you a high resolution scan of the photo.

          1. Wow… are you related then? My mother recalls Everette, and Clarence, but from the info over here, his wife was Oleta (full: Oleta Mariah Love).

        2. He was such a beautiful child and loved child that multiple copies of the cabinet card were made and distributed. I’m glad you have the original. We’re not related but I’m glad to be friends now.

    1. Thanks Tammi. I believe I’m the only modern vampire parenting blogger around. Thanks for dropping by. Keep checking back for more fun. There is something for everyone here.
