Today is Halloween – Day of the Dead
Memorial stones honor the dead long after all who ever knew them are gone and under their own stones. There is a quiet beauty in tombstones and cemeteries. As I walk through these places I don’t feel fear but the sense of loss and love, mixed with air thick with memories and stories.
Contrary to some popular fiction, Vampires don’t live in these places, maybe hide out, but it is the place for those who are no longer going to walk among us.
Today I want to share a few of the beautiful headstones and memorials in the Old Sacramento Cemetery.

There is a simple, quiet beauty and a sense of lasting love when you look at these beautiful memorials of those who have walked the paths before us. Thanks for sharing J.
Thank you. The artwork and beauty of these places is so amazing. A lot of love.
Very peaceful pictures, Juliette… very sensitively taken too. I love them!! Well done!
Thank you. It is a special place. I hope to cover a few other local historic resting places.
Yes, thank you for sharing. I have fond memories of walking the cemetery in my old college town with my mother and grandmother. There is something peaceful about it. We loved reading the names and dates on the tombstones.
Those are special places. It is hard to put it into words. So glad you were able to share that experience with those you love.
I’ve always found cemeteries very peaceful!
Yes indeed.
