Last Thursday I visited the city of Colma, where almost everyone is dead. Seriously, over a million graves are there with less than 2,000 living in residence. There are no cemeteries in San Francisco – they were all moved to Colma. People and pets are still buried there to this day.
The photos were taken by my friend Amelia who joined Clara and I for the day. Thank you Amelia. These are lovely.

Those angel statues are so beautiful. The detailing on them is just…wow. 🙂
They are stunning – and there were so many. I have one more posts from the photos my daughter took. There are some interesting surprises.
Thank you so much for sharing them. 🙂
Amazing cemetery!
The entire town is something to see.
I’m very touched by these amazing statues. How talented these artists are!
Yes, I absolutely love the beauty of their faces and their grace. We did some research on the Angel of Grief (the 4th down). There are several around the world. I’d love to see all of them. The one in Chico, CA is larger. I never go around to posting the photos I took several years ago. Cypress Lawn is known for all of the angels. The abundance of angels in the Italian Cemetery was lovely and touching, especially in the children’s section.
Cemeteries are such mysterious, and peaceful places……, except for the ghosts ! I love to visit the old ones. They’re ultimately more interesting. 🙂
