My husband brought this daguerreotype home a few days ago. We believe he was from California, maybe even the Sacramento area, because that is where we are, and where this image came from. The case is worn but spectacularly beautiful with the lily design. I’ve never seen a case like this one. The man in the image is handsome and stylish. He looks like he might have been of Spanish descent. To me the image looks like it was taken between 1845 to 1850. I can’t find a makers/photographers mark, but I haven’t taken this image apart because I don’t want to unseal it.
Perhaps there are other images of him, or even a painted portrait. Portraits were often painted after Daguerreotypes.
If you know who this man might have been (or be if he is still around) please let me know.

That face deserves a story. I hope you find it.
Well, J, if you can’t find a story, you could always write one…,couldn’t you??? 🌵🌹🌵
I promise I will indeed write that story, truth or fiction!
