Caturday Muse and Vampire News

Happy Saturday Caturday!

This lovely cat is Gloria. She just turned fifteen years old. My daughter picked her out at the county animal control center (the pound) when she was about 6-8 weeks old. My child turns twenty one in July. Gloria, needless to say, is not getting her drivers permit because she HATES being in the car.

My brother Val was over earlier today to tell me about all of the latest Vampire news. This pandemic and lock downs have put a cramp in the lifestyles of Vampires too.

“Can we carry the virus or spread it?” I asked.

Val shrugged. “I don’t think so. I mean, technically someone could leave spit on me and I could immediately go to someone else and pass it on, but the probability of that is pretty high. Seriously who is going to take any chances and contaminate our food supply?”

“I can’t think of anyone I know who’d even think of being with a sick or positive donor.”

“Anyone you know. Vampires are like everyone else. Some are more responsible than others. Some are just assholes.”

“You have a point. And that is why we’re on good terms with a few good Vampire Hunters.”

Val just gave me an uncomfortable smile. “I wouldn’t exactly call it good.”

We continued to visit and catch up on what our friends and family were doing. Val played stick with my dog then threw in a load of laundry. He needs a new washer and dryer but since he has become more of nocturnal type of Vampire since March he hasn’t gotten around to it. That’s ok. It gives me a chance to visit with him more often.

Wishing all of you a lovely weekend, with a clean food supply, clean clothes, and cats.

Wrapping up 2019 on a Cold Caturday Morning.

It’s Caturday!

It is cold outside with a slight touch of frost starting to melt off of the new green stuff growing behind my house.

My cats, Gloria and Oscar are warm and cozy inside of the house.

The kids are home for the holidays and we are spending our time together just being together. The new year will start after they go back to those big universities hundreds of miles south of here. My brain is in the mood for dog walks in the cold woods, and then coming home to a couple of nice warm purring cats.

Yes, such is the life of a Vampire in this modern world.

Oh, right, here is what you came for: Cat photos.

Have fun.

Cat-ur-day: Comets, Giant Space Cats and Vampires in Space

It’s Cat-ur-day! I’m getting ready for a road trip and busy as a Vampire can be, but I haven’t forgotten you! Here is a favorite from 2014 – with pictures no less.

Comets, Giant Space Cats and Vampires in Space

I’ve posted a lot of amazing and astounding photos of space on my blog so get ready for more… brace yourself…

Scientists were surprised when Rosetta found parking was scarce on the Comet 67p. BUT the one who was really surprised was GIANT SPACE CAT.

comet on cat comet_comet_67P_20140803_1

As so-called creatures of the night Vampires have always loved comets.

A few years back I’d go out in front of my house every single night and watch Hale Bopp. Unfortunately a nut job cult hijacked the even… a lot of weird sick things like that were happening around that time. But anyway it was beautiful and I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it.

This isn’t my house but it is Hale Bopp. I don’t live anywhere near this place.

Over the centuries some cultures have feared comets but there isn’t anything to fear (aside from giant space cats.)

Mark Twain was born and died in years of Halley’s Comet. So did Nigel the ghost. I didn’t even see it in 1986 except for a faint faint faint little blip in the sky and I’m still not sure if I really saw it. But the idea of it was so magical and wonderful.

My post is more random than the sightings of comets so just stick with me.

I’m amazed that the landing of Rosetta on a COMET – a REAL COMET – wasn’t bigger news. That is so amazing. We’re just sort of sitting out here on our own in space. Nobody visits. We’re all alone and we can’t leave. We think about it. We write books and make movies about it.

We make a lot of movies and books about it – a lot is simply brilliant and inspires us to look beyond our own planet. Unfortunately most is really bad.

Really? Sin in Space?

Really? Sin in Space?

Even Gorn will have to agree with me on that.

My name is Gorn and I always agree with Juliette.

My name is Gorn and I always agree with Juliette.

That said, one of the most brilliant examples of Vampires in Space – the ultimate is Amish Vampires in Space. I kid you not.

This is so AWESOME

This is so AWESOME

Anyway, I’m just using this as an excuse to share the GIANT SPACE CAT and some other silly stuff with you. Have fun and keep looking to the stars.

It is Cat-ur-day once again. Today I borrowed a few of my favorite cat images from Boredpanda.com

Cat-ur-day

Saturday is here which usually means a Burning Question Poll or a lousy drawing.

But TODAY it is Cat-ur-Day. Move over Saturn, the cats are here.

Last night while I was folding laundry (yes, Vampires have laundry) my cat Oscar was curled up next to his buddy Stan-Lee. Stan is an old Steiff tiger of the most pleasant disposition. Oscar loves his Stan.

Oscar is my baby boy, even though he turns eight this summer.

Gloria is almost fourteen. We got her at the pound (Sacramento Animal Control and Rescue) on my daughter’s 6th birthday. She was a teeny tiny little thing. Gloria is still pretty small but fierce. She is the hunter, and I will say no more. Birds, bugs, lizards, and all small rodents – you have been warned.

But wait… for all of you who need your poochie dogo fix I also took a picture of Alice, my cuddle bug hellhound (aka GSD aka German Shepard Dog.) Alice is three years old. Her birthday is December 25th. Alice weights 86 pounds, loves the cats to no end, listens to the “mom voice”, and steals the cat food as often as she can.

For those who came here looking for a Burning Question or a drawing I aim to please.

Here is a doodle I did a while back of a vampire child and her cat. Just a doodle.

The Tiger and Vampire Maman

And something else a little more detailed.

This one was done under another name (aka Marla Todd) but I drew it. This was a while back. I have a stash of works I’ve never shown anyone, and a lot of work I’ve sold or given away. Hell yeah I’ve been paid for my artwork and illustrations.

Finally…

Drum roll please…

The BURNING QUESTION for today is: How does society influence art?

If you don’t like that one talk about your cats, dogs, art, or spring garden in the comment section below. Yes, that is what the comment section is for. Start the discussions NOW.

Happy Cat-ur-Day.
