So what are my kids and their friends listening to these days? Thought you might like to check it out. These are bands you don’t hear on the radio (most radio)…but interesting that you can get the shirts in Hot Topics…some of the shirts. So if you’re tired of all the crap on top 40 radio and want to listen to something different, SMART, fun and hear some exceptionally talented musicians check out the links below (and I hope to hear all these bands on the top 40 soon – it would be nice)!
Yes, my kids DO have great taste in music and I am so proud of them!

BearCat – Renee Yohe http://throughthesoundbarrier.wordpress.com/2012/06/01/more-than-just-a-story-bearcat/#comment-699
I’m sure you’ve all heard of the guys above but…Renee Yohe is one to be watching for in the future. She is impressive in person and absolutely beautiful. A voice and talent that will only get better.
And no, there are NOT any Vampires in these bands. The Vampire music scene is pretty low key these days, reserved for private clubs and recordings. It all comes down to safety issues.

I love that kids are finding their own preferances vs. what media tries to sell them. My daughters-preteens- and I love to dig around on youtube and other sites for different kinds of music, indie bands, etc. Good stuff, great blog. π
Thanks Tonia! If yours have any bands to add let me know. I’ll have to do a “part 2” with more details. You’re right – Youtube is THE source for finding new music. The kids also read music blogs and search out new indie or other “non commercial” bands. They (and their friends) are also big supporters of local bands. They also look at the signs on local clubs and then look up the bands on youtube! That is how they discovered Black Veiled Brides and Blood on the Dance Floor (not my favorites but not the Beeb thank goodness).
