Exploring the Wonders…

They grow

And explore

The wonders

Of the universe

If we let them.

Then they explore

The wonders of

their hearts

and imagination.

All children should be allowed to explore, beyond the world of their parents. We should be their guides, but give them the freedom to take that extra step to discover something new. If your child learns something new 9 times out of 10 you’ll learn something new.

Listen and learn from your child. You’ll know what they learned in school and what they did after school. You’ll know about their friends. You’ll know about those who aren’t so friendly to them. They keys to talk to them, talk with them and listen to them. Never take a one world answer. Make them talk. They’ll thank you for it later.

The sun is just coming up over horizon and the sky is turning pale gray and whites and blues. It is that strange in-between time for just about most creatures. Werewolves are turning back into their own skin. Vampires are thinking of going to sleep. Regular folks are getting up for work. This is my time to write when all is quiet. Quiet is a rare thing for a mom.

Summer is in full swing and I wonder how my kids will remember their childhood and teen years.  I hope that the memories they take with them are of the times we spent together talking and just being together. I hope the memories will be of ideas and discussions.

I hope those ideas and discussions will never end.

But I digress…change is good.

butterflyA delightful blog full of tips about parenting a Modern Vampire teen… That is how this all started out but we’ve since grown here at Vampire Maman (notice I used WE.)

From the first blog posts about removing blood stains, to Werewolves, to love letters, adult drama, romance, weird stuff, cocktails, tee vee, Short Story Sunday, poetry (very popular), dealing with ancient Vampires, marriage, my brothers, Vampire Hunters…and don’t forget the Ghost, I’ve covered a lot of territory. Oh, I forgot book lists and a few wonderful guests along the way to.

What this all comes down to is that CHANGE and EVOLUTION are a good thing. Not just for blogging but for just about everything in life.

I tell that to my kids all the time (and this is first and foremost a parenting blog,)

Change is good. Not just the kind you find in the bottom of your pockets or purse.

There is a lot of change in my world right now, including school. It starts in two weeks. One Vampire child is starting High School and one is a Senior. AND they’ll both be going to the same school again. That is a big change. It will be fun and interesting.

But the basic message remains the same:

  • Talk with your kids. Not AT them. Not TO them. But WITH them.
  • If we were all the same the world would be a boring place.
  • Love your children but let them fly and be their own Vampires (or whatever you are.)
  • Share our experiences with each other.

So in honor of the new school year the assignment for today is: Change, evolve, explore, create, laugh, share, love, hug and be the best Vampire (or whatever you are) you can be.
