Demon of Darkness

Demon of Darkness

Come forth

Find a blood sucking

VAMPIRE

Then go back to

Whilst you came.

“Ryan, are you sure whilst is the correct word?”

“It sounds right.”

“I think you need to change it. Use where. Where you came from.”

Demon of Darkness

Come forth

Find a blood sucking

VAMPIRE

Then go back to

Where you came from.

Skyler suddenly felt underdressed. His green and black flannel shirt was clean, and his jeans just had a bit of mud around the rolled up cuffs from the storm that night. He left the bar and went home to change.

A few blocks away Constantine Jones was at home with a nice glass of Cabernet watching Dead Boy Detectives. His black and white cat Matilda was curled at his side, purring and making biscuits on his leg.

The doorbell rang.

Constantine put the TV on pause. The cat stopped making biscuits and looked up.

Even though it was after midnight, 12:36 AM to be exact, he had a feeling there was nothing to worry about.

At the door stood Skyler. He was usually dressed like a lumberjack or a grunge musician, but tonight he was wearing a beautifully cut trench coat, black slacks, beautiful custom made Italian loafers, and a burgundy colored cashmere sweater. In fact, the sweater was the exact same color as the wine Constantine had been drinking.

Constantine greeted his friend and took his coat.

Skyler rolled his shoulders. A forked tail switched behind him. Then he remembered he had to be careful of the artwork.

“Good to see you Skyler. Would you like a glass of wine?”

“Yes, please. Is your cat here?”

“Come on back. Matilda, someone is here to see you.”

Constantine turned off the TV. They sat, Constantine in his usual chair, and Skyler on the couch with the cat now making biscuits on his arm.

“So my friend,” said Constantine. “What brings you out here in this storm?”

“Well, Connie,” said Skyler. “I was out with some friends at our usual club listening to a local band, when I started to tingle and feel an uncomfortable ache all over my body. I had been summoned.” Skyler couldn’t help but roll his eyes when he said that.

“Wait, I thought you were working on your own now. You know, no more affiliations with Hell or you know who.”

“I am, but by my very nature, and because of what I am, sometimes those damn incantations still fuck with me.”

“So, what did they want from you?”

“They wanted me to find a Vampire and then go back to where I came from.”

“I see.”

“So, when I finish this most excellent glass of wine, and have finished visiting with you, I’m going back to where I came from.”

“Which is?”

“Where do you think? My house, half a mile from here. I left my girlfriend at the club, and she said she’d meet me back at my place in an hour.”

“Sounds good to me. I’m glad I could be of service.”

“Thank you, Connie. You were the closest Vampire.”

“Anytime Skyler.”

____________

A mile away in an abandoned warehouse a group of amateur Vampire Hunters and Paranormal Investigators watched as a stream of grayish green smoke, smelling of burnt rubber, came from the middle of the circle they’d chanted around earlier that evening.

“It is done,” said Ryan. “The Demon found a Vampire and went back to where he came from.”

_____________

Skyler arrived home. His girlfriend met him at the door and wrapped her leathery demon wings around him in a tight embrace. He looked into her orange eyes, and then kissed her, as only Demons in love can kiss. It was good to be home, back to the place where he had come from.
