School is out for the 16 year old and almost out for his 12 year old sister. Next fall I’ll have a senior in high school and an 8th grader under my roof. It will be a time for transition for both of them – thinking towards the future. In the meantime summer is here.
That means fun with friends in the sun. See where I’m going with this? Our vampire kids are going to scorch and overheat until they’re absolutely sick, unless you drill it into their heads to be sun and heat smart.
We all know the drill about hats, shirts and sunscreen – keep drilling that into their heads. Vampires aren’t immune to skin cancer. The types are different than what regular humans get – but be informed and educated. If you don’t know the facts see your doctor (your vampire doctor). Take it seriously. Tell your regular human friends to take it seriously as well.
Another easy way to keep your vampire teens comfortable in the heat is to make iced tea with a mix of golden seal and burdock root. Red clover is also a nice addition when mixed with peppermint. The effects are a nice tonic for regular humans but for vampire teens it helps protect them against sun stroke and other toxins caused by too much sun and heat.
When my kids plan a day on the lake or at the water park I make them a Sun Screen Smoothie.
Sun Screen Smoothie:
1 tsp each of ground golden seal, red clover, burdock root
1 cup frozen berries (we like the mixed but all blueberries, strawberries, blackberries etc will do)
1/2 cup purified blood
1/4 cut ground kale
1/2 cup cranberry juice (unsweetened)
1/2 cup grape juice
1 cup plain Greek Yoghurt
1 ripe banana
Blend it all up in your blender until smooth. Add more juice/blood to make it as thick or thin as you want. This makes several servings (depending on how big you want to make it. Do the math).
