Savoring Fall and The Halloween Season

I hear geese in the sky.

That means fall is officially here.

Sure there are geese who live here year around.

Then there are those geese who fly from Canada to the tip of South America.

On the way they stop by for a rest in California.

And to see me.

I wave at them.

They honk back at me.

Then I put berries and apples out for the squirrel

And her adolescent babies

So they won’t eat all of the succulent

Plants on my deck.

My house is decked out for Halloween

Black glass pumpkins

Vampire nutcrackers

Owls and costumed crows.

And on the porch pumpkins and gourds

My husband brought me.

He always brings me pumpkins in October.

On Halloween we will stay inside, like all good Vampires, and let the others frolic and play. It is their time for tricks and treats. I’ll be home handing out goodies, and maybe dress up my German Shepard and take her for a walk, and visit my neighbors.

There are other nights for us to go out among the Ghosts, Witches, and Werewolves, and all that goes bump in the night. There are other nights to walk the cemeteries, and deep dark woods, and look for our kind of warm liquid treats.

Happy October and have a joy filled, and fun fall. It is the time of year that seems so short, for soon another hot sweltering summer will be here, to last almost forever. Savor the fall, and the season.
