Titanic Thoughts

“It was a stupid thing to do. I can’t imagine anyone with only an infinite life span throwing it all away by getting into an unproven tin can and going down miles to visit a sunken ship. It was hell enough when it sunk the first time. It reminds me of Georges Méliès’s Journey to the Moon it is so preposterous to think of. It wasn’t even a real submarine. The Titanic should be left alone with the ghosts of the dead,” my brother Max told me over the weekend.

Max was on the Titanic when it went down. The experience was devastating. Afterwards he thought he would heal his pain by engaging in an unhealthy hellish relationship with a women he’d met on the ship. She was in a lifeboat and he ended up in the water. Luckily she is out of his life, but the memories remain. Over the years he has been involved in other shipwrecks, and all were equally tragic for him.

Just because a Vampire survives trauma doesn’t mean they get over it.
