We have a natural right to make use of our pens as of our tongue, at our peril, risk and hazard.

~Voltaire, Dictionnaire Philosophique, 1764

Yes, the old post that was on this link has been replaced by the words of Voltaire.

  1. This is unfortunate because you would never do this. I’m sad you witdrew your story and hope this doesn’t cause you to become paranoid and deprive us of your wonderful and entertaining stories. Know…you have brought us more joy than you know!

  2. I’m sorry to hear about all of this. I know I like to avoid all sorts of drama if I can. Sometimes people just take things wrong. I suppose sometimes we can be guilty of not thinking things through enough. I don’t know. I hope to not offend anyone either, but sometimes we can’t please everyone.
As far as I am concerned, I have visited many times not really knowing always whether you were playing around or being serious. I just figured I should wait until I got to know you better before I took anything too seriously. Sometimes we could all use a thicker skin. Life’s too short otherwise.
    Take care. *waves*

  3. This sort of thing troubles me for several reasons. On the one hand, you can’t censor yourself for every person who might be offended. On the other hand, you don’t want to hurt people you care about.

I’m careful about writing about people in my life, but I can’t control how people will read things.

I don’t know. I’m too tired to write about this in a sensible way, but I’m sorry this happened to you. I like your blog and I don’t know anyone you write about or what parts of these stories might be real or imagined.

    1. I think if I read any book from “Dracula” to “Wizard of Oz” to “War of the Worlds” I’ve find someone I knew and myself. Thanks for your support.

  4. J, this type of thing is so terribly unfortunate because now you mentally censor your creativity because someone is thin-skinned and can’t see beyond themselves. This type of situation is what causes good writers to become mediocre. I am sad for you.
As for me, I hope you can look past it and keep on keepin’ on!

  5. Sometimes it happens.
But bless you in your decision.
    You are so caring.
    Your posts are always wonderful.
I believe people see creative beauty and
    Insight in your posts.

  6. I do hope the person who has taken offence remembers the wonderful heart and pure intentions that motivate you and that whomever it is accepts your very honest apology. I also hope that you will continue to be creative and write your great blog. Sometimes, we do offend people unintentionally. It takes a big spirit to apologise and a big spirit not to take something personally where no harm was meant. We appraise events in very emotional ways sometimes and hear things in a way that could not be further from the truth. Lots of love…

  7. Everyone here is being so polite and understanding of the person causing an artist to pull back and be less creative. You are all far more genteel than I. Thank you for reminding me that I should not go off on an excessive rant to the person who took offense. I’ll make it short. To the offended, “EXCUSE ME?!? How old are you?” There are no new stories on this planet. Surprise! Everything has been done and said before. Could it just possibly be that *your* life has had some parallels in other people’s lives? Why yes, it has.

  8. I’m sorry to hear you got in trouble. I’m sure this person will understand, at least after a while, that this hadn’t been your intention!!
    You’re such a great writer!!

    1. Thank you and yes, we can to an understanding. Sigh. Sometimes lines of communication just get all twisted and turned. And don’t YOU ever stop your sharp wit Ms Raani!

    1. Voltare to the rescue…again. A misunderstanding in which someone thought I was writing about something I wasn’t… It knocked me on my head and threw me through a loop. I’m sure you get that sort of thing all the time. Thank you for dropping by as always, and I do enjoy your squirrels.

      1. Ah yes, I have yet to have that happen on my blog, but at my other internet community I hang around, I’ve had that happen quite a bit. And there’s always certain people are more prone to thinking everything’s just a veiled attack on them… sometimes you can’t do anything more than shake your head and move on…
