Masquerade Fantasy

Last summer I did some sketches for the yearly Vampire Masquerade Ball costumes…here they are all in one posting.

Just quick pencil  and/or pen on paper.

I do more detailed pen and ink work but that is for another post.

Have fun!

Vampire Community News

Vampire Maman will be on vacation from July 28 – August 4 to attend the Vampire Masquerade Ball, put on by the Vampire Circle.

Other Announcements:

  • There have been more sightings of Vampire Hunters and Vampire Stalkers lurking around California, Oregon and Nevada. They are especially interested in Vampire teens, college age young adults and those associated with the Circle. The weakest members of our community – new converts and reclusive old-fashioned Vampires are also at risk due to their poor judgment and inexperience.  Seminars and community meetings will be hosted in August and September.
  • If you are approached by a Vampire Hunter or suspect on in your area, please contact your nearest Circle Council Representative as soon as possible. All Circle Representatives are available 24/7.
  • As far as I know, there are no Vampires in the 2012 Olympic games. We’ll be recording the games while we’re gone. For my friends going to London – Have a blast despite the crowds!  We wish the best to the entire USA Olympic Team!
  • The Vampire Poetry Bash is still scheduled for September. A final date will be announced after the Ball.

Wishing you all a happy and safe week.

Important Vampire News, Events and the Joys and Pure Bliss of Vampire Technology

Yesterday Clara and I drove to San Francisco for various things, but we ended up with a lovely day in Golden Gate Park. A beautiful day in San Francisco can’t be matched anywhere.

On the way home she filled my iPhone up with photos of huge ugly fat men. There were about 30 of them. In all seriousness I told her to REMOVE the offending photos, but she was laughing so hard that she had to sit down. Sigh.

Why yes, Vampires DO have iPhones. Really. We’re big on taking advantage of the technology and culture of every century we live in (3 so far for me, but I’m a youngster as far as Vampires are concerned).

Summer is here and I’ve been too busy to post anything much of great depth or pressing Vampire parenting issues.

There are a few items I want everyone to be aware of.

  • The Vampire Masquerade Ball is still going on in August despite recent ugly events with Vampire Hunters in California, Nevada and Oregon.
  • From late July to the second week of August we will be OUT, at the ball and taking a break from blog postings.
  • I’ll be back in full force for all of that Vampire parenting back-to-school news. Yes, more on school issues for Vampire teens going to regular human schools.
  • An important area for Vampire parents and teens on  “The dangers of Vampire Hunters” will happen in September. I’ll keep you posted with the dates.

I hope to post some final sketches for the ball. Costumes are being made as we speak, but there is so much more to do.

Fantasy & Fun = Masquerade Vampire Style (rare birds, poets, mystery and magic)

The excitement builds as costumes are created for the upcoming Vampire Masquerade Ball in August.

For my darling and smart friends Ng and H (of course I dare not use their REAL names due to a recent surge in Vampire hunters) they wished to switch traditional genders. Always fun and THEY could pull it off.

For a sweet poet there are two choices. First I came up with a rare bird, but then thought maybe a fairy would also suit her. A bird with wings of sheer silken fabric. A fairy with an edge.

So I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed my 15 minutes of sketching (which is far better than 15 minutes of fame in my opinion)

And we’ll see you at the Vampire Masquerade Ball!

Vampire Ball Dress…off the shoulder sexy

This might be the dress for the Vampire Masquerade Ball, but it might be for a friend. I like this one a lot!

I think my husband Teddy would like it too.

My other dress sketches are here and here.

So in the happy vampire family, we have visitors coming soon. New vampires who need to be trained. My baby vampire child is turning 13 next week. I promised my son to take him out on a hunt, just the two of us. Changes and stresses, but there will also be great joy and discover, as there always is in the life of a modern vampire mom.

Vampire Masquerade Ball – Costumes Round 2 – Dress Designs for Nancygail

As a rule, Vampires tend to be exceptionally charming, witty, well read and smart. Sometimes I feel like the exception to that, at least lately, but least I lament about my glum moods these days…where was I?

You always remember when you meet someone who is exceptionally witty and scary smart and sensitive in a charming and straight forward way without excessive sap and giddy sweetness that makes your teeth hurt…that is my friend Nancygail.

Much to my delight, she (and I hope her friend Hollie) will be attending the Vampire Masquerade Ball in August.

I put together a few quick sketches for dresses (masks to come) and hope these designs aren’t too fussy for her.

So many dresses to design and so little time. No expense is to be spared on fabrics and trims.
