I was in my car this morning and I thought I’ve love to hear the song Davy Crockett done by some hard core metal band. Maybe get some good screaming in there too.
Born on a mountain top in Tennessee
Greenest state in the land of the free
Raised in the woods so he knew ev’ry tree
Kilt him a b’ar when he was only three
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier!
But wait, bring on the Kraken! How about the Whale of a Tale song by a hard-core post metal group?
Got a whale of a tale to tell ya, lads
A whale of a tale or two
‘Bout the flappin’ fish and the girls I’ve loved
On nights like this with the moon above
A whale of a tale and it’s all true
I swear by my tattoo
There was Mermaid Minnie, met her down in Madagaskar
She would kiss me, any time that I would ask her
Then one evening her flame of love blew out
Blow me down and pick me up!
She swapped me for a trout

Please release me…everybody sing along!
When you live with teens, and if you’re anything like me (and a Modern Vampire but it isn’t exclusive) you come to expect the unexpected and more than that, you think the unexpected.Your brain just works like that – at least mine does.
Since I live with teens the two topics of everyday are music and school. With school, aside from general complaints about teachers who seem to hate everything and don’t appreciate a good Gothic tale (yes, the dreaded English teacher), the conversation always comes back around to clothing.
The upper level class members always dress better. The lower level kids, especially the freshmen haven’t a clue. They’re still learning. You never know – today sweats, tomorrow orange plaid slacks (my son’s friend Randy wears those.)
Also, Halloween is almost here and a lot of people will be dressing like Vampires, or how they think Vampires dress.
Honestly, like I’ve said before, I don’t wear skintight black wiggle dresses with plunging necklines everyday. My husband doesn’t wear red lined black capes and formal wear all the time. He doesn’t wear capes.
And what is it about people thinking Vampires are always dripping with blood? Do Regular People always have food running down their faces? Do they have it smeared on their clothing and hands? No, of course not. So why would any self respecting Vampire go around with blood all over his or her face and clothing.
I’ve talked a lot about clothing on this blog. Today I’m in a black tee, jeans and a teal blue blazer with a gray messenger bag and black sandals. Not exactly Halloween wear, but Halloween isn’t until the end of the month.
Maybe I’ll just wear a little black dress on my birthday…later this month.

Why yes, this is exactly what I wear when I pick the kids up from school.
