Vote TODAY – Everybody

On Tuesday June 5, 2018, I will be working as a Sacramento County Polling Clerk at one of the new voting centers. I’ll be in Orangevale so if you’re in my neck of the woods you might see me.

We are now in fire season here in Northern California. No big fires yet, but they’ll be here soon enough.

I was going to wax and wane poetically about fires that burn in our hearts with desire for love and freedom and dreams that others would take away. Think about how many times a child says she wants to be an artist or writer or doctor or historian or anything and someone says “that is too hard” or “you’ll fail.” How many times have people come up against all odds and had success. Think about that when you vote tomorrow. And you WILL vote (or I will lose all respect for you if you’re an American citizen.)

Anyway, a lot of people, including ALL women had someone before them fighting for that vote. But I won’t go on. The fires burn for education and knowledge. The fires burn for freedom to love. Vote for the fires that burn for the love of your children. Vote for the environment and water issues. Just vote for common sense.

Today you need to VOTE because all of the above. In other parts of the world (not my part of the world) people risk their lives for the right to vote. They die for it. People died for it here too.  So remember them and VOTE.

Plus remember… if you don’t vote you can’t complain about the results.

Burning Question #11: I had to ask…yes, it’s about Vampires

Well crap, I accidentally posted this today instead of Saturday so just pretend the weekend is starting early. As an added bonus I’ll post burning question #12 on Saturday. And remember don’t just tell me you like this post, give me an answer. It is fast, painless, and easy.

vampire girls

If you’re here you know this blog is Vampire Maman – Musings of a Modern Vampire Mom. And if you’re here you know it is Saturday and time for the BURNING QUESTION.

Yes, I have to ask this one.

Everyone has different ideas about Vampires.

Some believe they are evil beings lacking souls and from the depths of Hell (of goodness.) Some believe the Twilight shit and think they are weird old sparkling creatures who stalk high school girls (the whole concept disgusts me, both as a parent and as a woman.) You do know that is fiction don’t you? It is. Get over it.

Some believe they follow ancient blood rituals and live by a strict order set down by ancient laws (I can’t even hardly write that without laughing.) It just doesn’t work for most Vampires.

Some believe they are all like Dracula or the Vampires in the Anne Rice books (all fun and well written, or at least most of them.)

And some… a few, know that Vampires are just like everyone else except we live a long long long time, have a lower body temperature, can see ghosts, drink blood, can be pretty scary if we want, are extra sexy, can get a bit pissy, and are generally good parents, among other things.

And sometimes Vampires are just dried up old assholes who live in crypts and come out at night with their joints creaking as the dust falls off of their jackets and scare the shit out of people. There ARE Vampires like that and they’re pretty disgusting.

Just like normal folks real Vampires come in a lot of flavors.

If you aren’t sure of an answer please feel free to ask questions, or search this blog for answers.

Burning Question #11: Would you willingly become a Vampire?

Now that didn’t hurt a bite, I mean bit.

Oh come one, admit it was fun.

I’ll be back next Saturday with Burning Question #12. If you have a burning question you’d like answered let me know. See me on FB or email me at juliettevampiremom @ gmail. com

So you want to know how someone gets turned into a Vampire…

My readers frequently ask me how one gets turned into a Vampire. If it was that easy we’d all be Vampires. But it isn’t easy. And the answer is always no. Always no. Always. And if we were all Vampires we’d starve to death.

By the way, the most common search terms that lead people to this blog are about converting into a Vampire.

Converting anyone into anything, be it a paranormal being (I hate that term but people understand the jest of it), or a religion, or a political party or whatever is sometimes a bit unsavory. The only conversion I ever want to think of is my conversion oven.

So, how about those Vampires?

I was born into this. My husband was converted against his will. My friend Cody was converted in order to save his life. My sister-in-law Verity wanted it and asked for it, as did so many of my friends.

No, I don’t have anything to say about that. It is what it is.

Only about 10% of people who go through a Vampire conversion survive in tact, that is with their soul. By that I mean they are still there. They aren’t just a body that feeds on blood and feels more or less nothing. A husk. A shell. About 5% end up as soulless husks. You don’t want to take that chance. The rest are gone. Dead. Really dead. Eight feet under dead.

Within the Vampire population we have many different cultures. Alright, maybe half a dozen, but that is a lot for our small population. Due to the fact that we are around for such a long time the cultures vary depending on who wants to stay stagnant in a past century (more or less.) Yes, that sounds like some regular humans who want to stay stuck in the past (hooray for the Black Death, bigotry, and intolerance.)

Like many we (Vampires) are private. I believe a lot things that are flapped out in public like so many ugly garish flags should be private. Even some of the beautiful things should be kept private.

With a culture that cares what some asshole with 19 kids is doing, or how big Kim’s ass is, or anything about Miley’s tits or tongue are doing… I just wish they’d all go away or just shut the fuck up. What I’m trying to say is that we need more privacy and mystery – in our personal lives. With everything out in the open everything just explodes into misinformation about how things should be – especially when it comes to our young people.

Conspiracy theories and hoax mongers multiply and thrive. Truth and reason play a close second. Attention whores get media coverage in the name of religion and politics. They are dangerous. They are evil. They will undermine civilization faster than any Zombie attack.

Vampires are not the evil ones. Do not question my soul. I might take blood, but I will never drain you dry or replace your blood with poison.

But back to conversion. No. If you have to ask it isn’t going to happen – at least not to you.
